Well, it turns out I kind of suck at dating at the moment. He was nice but I got really nervous for some reason, ended up having too much to drink and then freaked him out enough that he ditched me. I had to have Lorna come pick me up and Cal came with her and it was just a mess. But I tried right?

I'm sorry, honey. Sometimes I forget how nervewracking it is meeting people who haven't had the kind of experiences we've had, it's like dealing with a whole different culture or something. Is it totally cheesy to say that I'm proud of you for impressed that you tried? I think I probably would have chickened out before I even got off campus.

It's not your fault I can't stop running off at the mouth. But it was fun getting dressed up and putting on makeup and hanging out with someone I don't live with. Maybe the next one will be better and I don't think you'd chicken out. You'd go. Running away to college is scarier than one stupid date.

I do it too, sometimes I forget what normal people even have conversations about. And I'm glad the beginning part was fun, even if he did end up being a waste of a nice dress. Do they have a way to talk over e-mail beforehand or something, maybe get to know somebody a little better first? I'm really glad you're not just writing the whole thing off.

Yeah, I guess it was kind of scary. I'm glad I did it, though.
