I don't know which is more ridiculous, the idea that only perfect moral examples deserve birthday parties or the idea that having killed someone is somehow unusual here.

You know, it's one of those days where I have to stop and wonder about all of us because of what is and isn't ridiculous around here that would pretty much blow other people's minds.

I don't even stop to wonder anymore, it doesn't get me anywhere. At least, I try not to.

I try too, but I still can't help it some of the time. Some days it really makes me want to find a good school to transfer to so I can get as far away from here as possible and not have to wait until graduation.

The funny thing is, I don't feel at home anywhere else anymore. I mean, I thought going away to college would make me feel safer or something, but I just end up worrying that something will happen to someone I care about while I'm gone. I don't know if I could go all that far away for very long now.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Virginia hasn't felt like home to me in a while. I'm hoping somewhere besides here will, but I'll never know until I see, right? It's not like I won't eventually. NYU has a pretty good grad program for engineering but there are a lot of better ones. And I worry about some people here but it's not like I can actually do anything about that when I am here.

You're right about how this place changes us after a while. I try not to spend too much time worrying about it, it isn't like there's anything I can do, but I notice it when I'm away at school. I never feel like I'm quite on the same page as anybody else at Sarah Lawrence, even though I like a lot of them. It's like our experiences have been so different that we just can't connect or something, no matter how hard we try. I really don't know what that means in terms of the future.

Sorry, now I'm the one who's rambling.

Hey, I did it first, so don't worry about it. Half the time I kind of wish there were more people here who went to NYU just so when I was on campus I'd know someone who completely gets it, I guess. The people in both my departments are great, but it's like you said there's always this little bit that's out of place, maybe? Then the other half of the time it's the same thing for me when I'm here.

I have this feeling that I'd have to completely forget about everything at Xavier's or put it behind me to really settle in anywhere else. But I don't know how well I'd be able to do that, ever. The stuff that's happened here- it's not really like we can just forget about it or put it on a shelf or something like that. But we wouldn't be the same people without it, so....I don't know. Ok, that thought train kind of crashed without ending anywhere useful.

Sorry, no idea where that came from. I uh, I think I started rambling and my fingers got away from me.

Please, don't apologize. I think everyone who's been here longer than a year has felt that way at some point. We talk about the black hole effect a lot, but a lot of students leave here before they graduate and never come back.

Yeah, I guess it is something you have to deal with on both ends. On one hand, we've made it this far, and on the other, it makes finally leaving here that much harder when the time comes. If it ever does.

I do not care if I deserve it because I am still getting it. And you are coming, yes?

I stole my friend's boyfriend in 1st grade. I don't deserve a birthday party either.

so wait......does that mean a lot of people here ARE murderers or whatever or are you like, really exaggerating?

It means a lot of people here have been put in situations where they've had to kill or be killed, and anyone who blames them for surviving that can go to hell.

oh. wtf that so means yes so like, are you talking about the stuff that happened with the cure, cause i know stuff happened with us them? i mean, are there people i should be avoiding or something like that?

Oh god, I don't even know where to start

I'm not just talking about the Cure, but yeah, that's the kind of thing I mean. A lot of bad things have happened to some of us the people here, and some of it's hard to explain to people who didn't go through it. And no, there's nobody you should avoid.
